Description:
Tenders are invited for Coupling Climate & Fisheries Science to Secure Pacific Futures. The purpose of this call is to provide the Pacific Community (SPC) with a list of potential scientific research partners so that it can work with qualified applicants to develop and jointly implement a project to transition fisheries monitoring to meet the needs of Pacific fisheries administrations as they adapt their management to the impacts of climate change. Priority activities will prepare for an advanced warning system to provide tuna fisheries managers with decision ready products on shifting distributions of tuna and changes in abundance. This will include transitioning current fisheries monitoring to include modern genomic methods, expansion of the Pacific Marine Specimen Bank to attribute climate change impacts and providing opportunities to strengthen Pacific Island capabilities in climate science and modelling.
