Description:
The World Bank Group, on behalfof the Government of Fiji, seeks to engage a qualified team to inform activities of Fiji-s Investment Plan on wastewater treatmentthrough Nature Based Solutions (NBS) in rural areas. Specifically, this consultancy seeks to identify, assess, and initiate planning fordecentralized, nature-based wastewater treatment solutions in rural andsmall-town contexts within the PROSPER project boundaries in Fiji. Theassignment builds on water-sensitive, community-centered approachesdemonstrated in Fiji and comparable settings, prioritizing participatoryco-design and fit-for-purpose technologies suited to data-poor environments,challenging terrain, climate variability and low capacity.ObjectivesDesk Review: Identify up to 20 potential sites for rural/small town wastewater treatment within PROSPER project boundaries (on Viti Levu - between the Sigatoka River and Suva - and Taveuni, see figure below).Site Visits & Shortlisting: Conduct site visits and assessments to shortlist up to six sites (including at least one in Taveuni).Conceptual Design: Develop conceptual designs for up to three selected wastewater treatment sites suited to rural/small town contexts.Draft ToR for Detailed Design/Construction: Prepare Terms of Reference for the subsequent phase: detailed design (with structured community input) and construction of three wastewater treatment plants.
